FAQ's

  • Boys entering 1st - 7th grade. The boys hail from local and neighboring communities, including Bergenfield and Teaneck, Clifton and Passaic, Fairlawn, Riverdale, Washington Heights and the Upper West Side.

  • The campers begin their day with davening and learning. Each bunk has a skilled and experienced Rebbi who davens and learns, class-room style, with the bunk. The campers learn Chumash, Mishnayos, or Gemara, depending on their grade as well as Parsha and more. Our youngest campers, entering 1st grade, have a Morah who practices kriyah skills through games and activities. The Rebbeim hail from local schools and make the learning fun and exciting. The campers come away with a sense of pride, and the camp has a Siyum at the end of the summer celebrating those accomplishments, together with treats, raffles and prizes.

  • After learning, the counselors and JCs take over the bunk. They follow a schedule which is prepared by their Division Head. The campers have a packed day, with daily activities such as competitive sports leagues, swimming, specialties, such as arts and crafts and baking (younger grades), sports clinic and music (middle grades), guitar, drumming, chess or sports clinics (oldest grades) and a daily fun-filled “special” activity run by Rabbi Schreier, which the campers look forward to every day!

  • The campers go swimming Mon- Thurs at the River Edge Swim Club, which is located right behind the camp’s grounds. The beautifully maintained Swim Club boasts a triple-Olympic sized pool, basketball courts, a gaga ball pit, ping pong tables and a playground area, all which the campers can enjoy while at the pool. The Swim Club has an excellent and trained staff on grounds, including a Head Lifeguard and six lifeguards on deck who are trained and certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR. The Swim Club’s staff  test all campers who may be eligible as deep water swimmers with the deep water test.

  • Sports are an integral part of the day. The boys play baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, football, volleyball, and dodgeball on campus as well as at local fields, such as Kenneth B. Memorial Park, located right across from the Swim Club.  Each grade’s sports are age appropriate, and starting going into 2nd grade, the boys have daily competitive sports leagues. Additionally, we offer sports clinics, whose instructors help the campers develop skills and good sportsmanship. Our indoor, fully air-conditioned, beautifully maintained gym is an amazing addition, and definitely enjoyed every day, but especially on rainy days!

  • Each grade goes on a trip every other week. Recent trips have been to Urban Air, High Exposure, American Dream Waterpark, Nickelodeon Amusement Park, Billy Beez, Rockland Boulders, Montclair Ice Area and local Bowling Alleys. Trips vary from summer to summer. Our oldest division is treated to an additional Major Trip at the end of the summer and also enjoy several on-campus late nights throughout the summer. In recent years the Senior Elite Division has been to the JCC camps in Medford, Thrillz Danbury, Funzilla and Speed Raceways.

  • The health and safety of our campers is our #1 priority. The RYNJ campus is secluded and secured by an (armed) guard who guards the campus. Visitors are not allowed to enter the building without the guard’s approval and must receive a visitor’s pass upon entering. Additionally, we have a second guard who circulates the outdoors. He is stationed by the railroad crossing every morning and assists our staff in making sure the campers get to and from the pool safely. Camp Acheinu also has several CPR and First Aid certified staff members, including a full time certified nurse who is there to deal with any medical issues, big or small.

  • B’H we are fortunate to have the most incredible Head Staff (see the About Our Staff page for details) out there! Our Head Staff spend an extensive amount of time each winter hiring counselors and JCs (many who, B’H, return year after year). Our counselors and JCs are Bnei Torah, hailing from local yeshivos and high schools. Camp Acheinu provides two days of pre-camp training including a session run by Project Sarah (JFS) and another by Dr. Bin Goldman, PsyD, setting up our staff for success as best as possible. Additionally, the Head Staff run daily meetings and offer ongoing support to the staff. Counselors are going into 12th grade and above, and JCs are younger high school age boys.
